Started blogging today

I started blogging today. I must admit that I am a better writer when it comes to keeping a pencil and paper journal than an electronic one, but I will do my best. This blog will follow my journey through working in the children's book publishing world. I welcome any and all comments. I look forward to talking with teachers, kids, and their parents about books and reading.

A little about myself... I am a dad with 2 young sons ages 9 and 5 (soon to be 6, as we are reminded everyday). My wife and I have been together for 20 years. We have a corgi named Lucy. I have loved writing, music, and art all of my life. I absolutely love telling stories.

I have been a professional musician, actor, theater director, and historian. I am currently finishing my dissertation in history and should have my doctorate completed this summer. I have taught every grade level from pre-school to university-level. I am now happily signed to the Andrea Brown Literary Agency, in California. My agent, Jamie, is fantastic. I have a wonderful writing/illustration partner named Marilyn Scott-Waters (aka "The Toymaker" - look her up!). Our first kid's history book series is in the works, as are several short stories and picture books. I have also edited books for Teacher Created Resources, here in California.
