Li'l Missenden -The Hut Goes in today

Today is a terrific day! This is a day that I have been waiting for for years... The hut, named Li'l Missenden (look it up, there is a clue there...), is being built in the backyard garden today.

I enjoy working outside in the garden. It is a place that I feel very comfortable and at ease. It is also quiet and contains no electronics, except for a radio. I still write in journals and on yellow pads. I still paint on paper and canvas. It will be nice to have a place that I can keep my paints and art supplies, as well as a little space to keep my writing tools and brain.

We have planted deep red colored Dublin roses that will climb up the sides of the hut and golden yellow Carolina jasmine to extend the general garden area. We took out a lumpy old bush (ugh...). I am sure that some creatures were very unhappy with us about that one. We will also be installing a greenhouse full of vegetables and herbs, as well as several fruit trees this year (I believe an apple, a plum, a white peach, and a nectarine.). We will probably also add a a couple of dwarf lemon trees by the greenhouse.

A few birds around the yard, and we will be living in paradise! I can't wait. But, the new buildings, plants, and trees are simply adding to a backyard that is already magical.

We already have hummingbirds buzzing around all over the place. Muzzawhumps scurry around in our big Christmas pine tree (they throw pine cones at you). Snotzangers creep around in our mud puddles. We know that a famous cricket detective and his snail sidekick reside in our flower garden. A mopey little bat named Humphrey lives in the old tree down on the hillside. Oh, and we are right in the path of the Monarch butterfly migration every year - that is really something magical!

So, I guess we already live in an enchanted place. We are just working to keep it up!

What is the most enchanted part of your life? It doesn't have to be fancy or perfect, just yours. Let me know, I would love to hear your thoughts.

At home - my family. So much curiosity, fantasy, and laughter. Outside the home - my Irish dance classes. Great music, wonderful people, and lots of fantastic exercising to de-stress!
